About me
Marco Rutten (1967) worked for nearly 30 years on the commercial side of the food industry, mainly in purchasing for European supermarkets. His love for travel was sparked during his student days, when he set off across Europe with just an Interrail pass and a backpack — without even owning a camera. That first taste of adventure stayed with him ever since.
During the pandemic, Marco decided to radically change his life: he sold his house to pursue a long-held dream — to travel the world as a photographer. Today, he combines his love of authentic storytelling with a passion for discovering people, cultures, and landscapes, often far away from the typical tourist trails. His photography is personal, close, and honest, inviting viewers to step into the lives and worlds he captures.

At MarcoPhotoWorld, Marco Rutten showcases a curated selection of his finest travel photography: striking street scenes, portraits, landscapes, and festivals captured around the world. His work is characterized by a search for authenticity — no selfies, no influencer poses, but genuine moments, special perspectives, and stories beyond the surface.
As a globetrotter and adventurer, Marco explores extraordinary destinations and captures life as it unfolds, often staying longer to dig deeper into the places and people he photographs. His images have been published in renowned travel magazines, featured on covers, and recognised in photo competitions.
